Poland 1-1 Greece: EURO 2012 | June 8 Match

Greece foiled Poland's winning start as Dimitris Salpingidis scored on the 51st minute from a cross to the near post by Vassilis Torossidis in the UEFA European Championship 2012 opening match . The hosts looked like they were in full swing at half-time after showing their dominance and a 17th minute header by Robert Lewandowski but Greece escaped with both teams getting a point each in Group A of the EURO 2012's group stage.

Both teams ended with 10 men as Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Wojciech Szczesny were both dismissed. Greece might have won the match if Giorgos Karagounis scored from a 71st minute penalty but Przemyslaw Tyton saved the kick.
