January is Preparation for AFC Challenge Cup 2013

This coming New Year I won’t be traveling much because the Philippine Azkals are also on their vacation. I won’t have to deal with my vehicle overheating or using a tire changer. But come January, the boys will again be back on training to prepare for the AFC Challenge Cup 2013. This year, the Philippines will host its group stage matches and we are hoping that they would win the AFC Challenge Cup 2013 this time.

Singing and Celebration May Be Too Soon

Thailand is through to the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 finals and will be facing Singapore as they defeated defending champions, Malaysia. This is a cause of celebration for the host country, Thailand and for sure many of their countrymen are celebrating already, partying, enjoying music and maybe even singing their hearts out. Some may be listening or even playing live music using their own musical instruments and a mic.

But their celebration should wait until they win the championship which would be perfect as they are hosting the tournament but they must not be too confident because Singapore may just be able to snatch a win over them.

Philippines Bow Out of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 after Loss to Singapore in Semi Finals

The Philippine Azkals bowed out of contention in the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 after losing 1-0 against Singapore in their away leg last night. They held the latter scoreless and were goalless as well during the home leg. Some may think that it would be better for the Azkals to get beauty pageant awards because they probably are the most good looking South East Asian team, but their football skills can’t e easily written off as they have sustained going through the group stage in the AFF Suzuki Cup for the second time. Now, they will just focus their sights on the next tournament, the AFC Challenge Cup where they will be hosting the Group stage matches.

Philippines vs Singapore 1st Leg AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 Match Analysis

The Philippines kept a clean sheet with a 0-0 draw against Singapore in the first leg of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 semi finals. The Singapore Lions were the better team during the first half having at least two attempts that were wasted against one from the Azkals through an attempt by Phil Younghusband.

Support the Philippine Azkals vs Singapore in the Home Leg of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012

The Philippine Azkals are in the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 semi-finals again to face Singapore on December 8, 2012 for the home leg and on the 12th for the away leg. This is after finishing second in the group stage, overcoming what is known as the “group of death”. After getting beat 2-1 by Thailand, the Azkals bounced back to beat Vietnam 1-0 and Myanmar 2-0.

New Music for the Philippine Azkals?

One more day and the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 is on. The first match is Philippines vs Thailand. I remember years ago when the Philippines was like a newbie to football. They were like new musicians playing their  gibson sg standard and suddenly surprised Vietnam a few years ago with an upset. But now, coming into this year’s tournament, the Azkals are now a team to reckon with and being the team with the busiest preparation, it can really work different ways for them – to be too tired or to be well prepared. But most likely it would be the latter and I hope the Philippine Azkals bags the championship this time.

Manila String Maching Plays for Wolfgang on the Eve of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012

This Friday, the eve of the first match of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012, my musician friend will be playing for Wolfgang. Their group, the Manila String Machine, a sting quartet, were invited to play with this band which became very popular in the 90s in the Philippines. I’m not sure how they will be preparing for it, whether they will be getting some branded instruments like Fulltone or will practice the pieces they need to play before the performance. But I am so proud that they made the cut to play for Wolfgang.

Semi-Pro Difficulty in FIFA 12

These last few days, I’ve been playing my FIFA 12 in my iPad2 on semi-pro level. I’ve tried playing a season on that level before but I reverted back to amateur because it was too difficult. But even though I’m still quite fumbling with the toggle pads I will continue playing in this level and hopefully finish the whole season and then move to another level of difficulty. The next step after that would be to get the FIFA 13.

Make Music for the Azkals

Make music as the Philippines makes history in the upcoming AFF Suzuki Cup 2012. With the very busy preparations by the Philippine Azkals it is highly possible that they end up as champions in this tournament. So you can prepare your musical instruments, the drums and percussion, the electric and acoustic guitar with Cleartone guitar strings and the vuvuzuelas and trumpets even. Skeptics say that the preparations by the Philippine Men’s National Football team can either work for them or against them. Let’s just see.

Philippine Azkals Hold Bahrain into a Historic Scoreless Draw

Last night, the Philippine Azkals faced Bahrain in a FIFA friendly match and the result was a scoreless but historic draw in favour of the Philippines. During the first half, the Filipinos played like the higher ranking team with more attempts and more attempts on target even with a lower possession percentage.

In the second half, Bahrain appeared like a completely different team than the one that played during the first 45 minutes. They dominated the possession and bombarded the Filipino side with great build ups but were not able to finish. The Azkals dug in and also had their own share of missed opportunities.

Philippine Azkals in Their Middle East Training Camp

The national football team of the Philippines known as the Philippine Azkals are in the Middle East training camp now which is part of their preparations for the upcoming AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 in November. Observed to have the most preparations, the Azkals put on their work uniforms to be exposed to higher ranked teams in the Middle East.

The Younghusbands, brothers Phil and James, have also been tapped again by the Philippine Football Federation for the said camp but it has been suggested that they go straight to Kuwait and miss the friendly match against Bahrain to give them ample time to adjust and prepare.

Younghusband Brothers Out of the Peace Cup Line Up

I recently learned that Phil and James Younghusband are out of the Philippine Azkals line up for the Philippine Football Peace Cup 2012. According to PFF, they were removed from the list for the tournament due to “economic and non-economic” reasons. Coach Hans Michael Weiss also added that the Younghuband brothers were not able to keep their promise in terms of making the Philippine football team their highest priority and that he has been lenient with them for about a year. However, PFF clarified and said, “ This is not a sanction to anyone. They're just not selected. Coaching staff chose the best players.”

Laos Remains Ubeaten by Philippines After Scoring 2-1 In Friendly

Last night was the Laos vs Philippines friendly match and the latter lost 2-1 after both teams finished with 10-men. The first half of the match ended scoreless but Laos became more aggressive in the second half after changing four men from their first half line up. Their aggression paid off as the Azkals fell short on defending cleanly after two penalty shots were awarded to Laos which were both successfully taken.

There was a commotion after the first goal of the home team which cost both teams one team member each. Lights in the stadium remained steady even while both teams were at each other’s throats thanks to suppliers of the stadium lights and you can find other light fixtures like the bulbs used in football stadiums and you can also find t8 here.

Rob Gier was able to pull back one goal during the stoppage time and the match ended with a 2-1 score. The Philippine Azkals has never beaten Laos in all of their past meetings.

Philippines Exacts Revenge vs Singapore in Friendly

The Philippine Azkals rallied to a 2-goal win against the Singapore Lions in a friendly match last Friday held at the Jurong West Stadium. The challenge coin was accepted by the Philippine nation football team and they took first goal which was made in the 8th minute by Chieffy Caligdong. Phil Younghusband made the second goal in the 49th minute from a long ball off Stephen Schrock.

The last win by the Azkals against the Lions was 26 years ago and this victory was a great boost to the Philippine team after a draw against Cambodia a few days before.

Barcelona 3-2 Real Madrid | First Leg Spanish Super Cup | August 2012

In the First Leg of the Spanish Super Cup FC Barcelona secured a 3-2 win vs Real Madrid in a pulsating match. Real superstar Cristiano Ronaldo first headed in a corner, which Pedro levelled immediately from the kick-off.

Football Pitches and Homes

After typhoon Ondoy, another big storm passed through pulling with it monsoon rains which fell on Metro Manila and left a trail of trouble in the city including the football fields in the area. Two pitches I can name that were badly hit was the Sunken Garden in the University of the Philippines and the football field at the Marikina Sports Park. With my jansport hiking backpack, I visited Marikina and saw areas that were flooded. More than the affected football fields was the sight of people bing displaced from their homes. Please pray for the Philippines in this tragedy.

Growth of Football in the Philippines

Two weekends ago, as I was jogging in Marikina Sports Park, I saw a group of people playing football with uniforms colored like leather dye on the half of the field of the sports center. I am glad to see that more youth now are getting into football. The current rise of the Philippine Azkals’ popularity has paved the way to new things such as the signing of the memorandum of agreement between the Philippine Football Federation and DepEd for the grassroots development in our country and the building of a U17 Teen Azkals. May these developments see a brighter future for the Philippine national football team.

Finding Your Way During the 2012 Suzuki Cup

As I was reading articles about the upcoming 2012 Suzuki Cup and the Philippine Azkals’s preparation for the tournament, I saw that there are two countries co-hosting the tournament. Before, I thought it was just Thailand but I read that they are co-hosting the competition with Malaysia.

Having two countries host such a tournament is nothing new as the last EURO 2012 was also hosted by two countries. But finding the location of the stadiums may be difficult at first and you might need a gps locator to help you. If you plan to watch all the matches of your favorite country, make sure to know the schedules and locations of the matches so you won’t get lost during the tournament.

What Would be the Theme for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012?

In the last UEFA European Championship tournament (EURO 2012) where Spain came out as champions, the theme was flower power. It makes me curious about what the theme for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 in Thailand would be. With flowery presentations in the EURO 2012 I am wondering what programs the hosts would come up with aside from the usual dance, music assisted by musical instruments and some uhf 5805 mics.

With Philippines being grouped in the group of death, the Azkals leadership is confident that they will compete as champions. Personally, I think Vietnam and Thailand will take the Azkals seriously this year and maybe even think that it is them that are in the group of death with the current improvements of the Philippine football team.

Cheering and Music in the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 in November

The Philippines is grouped with Vietnam and Thailand in the upcoming AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 in November and how will the Philippine Azkals prepare for this? According to a Tweet from the camp of the Azkals, “Training sched for PHI in prep for Suzuki Cup: camps in the US, Gulf region; Nehru Cup, "Long Teng" Cup & a friendly in Nov.”

AFF Suzuki Cup2012 Draw Pits Philippine Azkals Against ASEAN Powerhouses

The AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 draw is done and the national football team of the Philippines (Azkals) is grouped with two powerhouse teams – host, Thailand and Vietnam whom they beat in the last Suzuki Cup. This is a chance for the Philippines to show the major improvements they have had as a team and Dan Palami said, “We’re not coming in as a surprise team anymore. We’re coming in as one of the favourites.”

This is a great time to support Philippine Azkals in the 2012 Suzuki Cup in Thailand because they will be there to not just participate but be champions, added by Dan Palami. So, with some fortune, do your best to be able to go to Thailand with the whole family and look for the safest infant seats you can find as you travel. It’s time for the Philippines to shine!

EURO 2012 on Cable

It's EURO 2012 mania again and I'm glad that the cable ties and subscription I have includes the channel where I can watch the matches in the UEFA Chamionship 2012. Many of the countries who participate in this tournament are usual participants of the FIFA World Cup so it's like a preview of the World Cup. The two groups I am excited to see are Groups B and C where Netherlands, Germany, Italy and Spain are. I will be posting updates and videos of goals of the finished matches here so please subscribe if you are interested in following my posts.

Still No Tickets for Philippines vs IndonesiaFriendly Game

This coming June 5 is the Azkals friendly game against Indonesia and I still haven’t bought any tickets. So far, there will be five or six of us who will be watching the game. I am still waiting for their contributions so I can purchase the tickets soon. We plan to meet at a Starbucks near Rizal Memorial Football Stadium which is like the www.coffeemakers.com of the internet. We should also get ready to get wet since it has been rainy lately.

A Surprise While Watching a Football Match

A few Sundays ago, while me and my son were watching a football game in our living room, we surprised my wife with a simple Mother’s Day present. She has gotten used to receiving surprises from me like when I got her gourmet gift baskets for her birthday last year and some perfume the other year so I thought it would really be nice to continue the pattern and surprise her. We’re glad that she enjoyed the surprise we had for her.

I'm Planning to Watch the Philippines vs Indonesia Match on June 5

In the early part of June this year, the Philippines Football Team known as the Philippine Azkals will be facing three different countries. They will be facing Malaysia on June 1, Indonesia on June 5 and Guam on June 12. I am planning to watch one of the three games and I am hoping to watch it with people from our church’s youth ministry. I’m glad one game will be held at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium so we won’t have to travel far and take out trucks with whispbar roof racks to load our stuff on and transport everyone. I can’t wait to buy tickets this week.

Playing Football Using FIFA 12 App

I've been playing FIFA 12 in my iPad 2 and have really been enjoying it so much that I've finished so many seasons already at the beginning and amateur levels. Now that I am playing at the semi-pro level it has become more exciting and more difficult. Defense is tighter and goal keeper is more responsive and scoring goals is not so easy. I am trying to wait for a discount window so I can add more money to my club and upgrade as much as I can. FIFA 12 is awesome!

Arsenal 1-2 Wigan Athletic | April 16, 2012 - Premier League

Manchester United 4-0 Aston Villa | April 15, 2012 - Premier League

Manchester United stayed up and retook a five-point lead above Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.

Ashley Young, who got a penalty-kick last week against QPR, was again involved, said to have been tripped by Ciaran Clark. The body contact between the two was not too much making the win against Aston Villa mixed with some controversial penalty kick. But Wayne Rooney converted the spot-kick early in the game before Danny Welbeck made it 2-0 before half time. Aston Villa improved after the break but Rooney and Nani sealed their win.

There were six yellow cards given, three for each club but no injuries were reported so no staff wearing nursing uniforms had to enter the pitch to take injured players out.

The Reds will play Everton next and then Manchester City and victory in these two matches could secure their 20th title in the Premier League.

Goals:

Wayne Rooney 7' (penalty)
Danny Welbeck 43'
Wayne Rooney 73'
Nani 90'

Music and Football Training

Maybe you're wondering what music has to do with football. A lot, I would say. One advantage of having players listen to music while training is that it lessens their focus on the physical strains of training and let's them redirect their attention to enjoying what they're doing because of the music.

Take for example the challenge of running and juggling. Running can improve stamina and juggling improves ball control and technical ability. But each exercise can be frustrating in the beginning. It takes a lot of practice, patience and discipline. But if players in the field can hear some upbeat music like some techno beat with riffs from Kawai Keyboards and guitar melodies, this may help them get motivated to continue instead of feeling frustrated which can make them give up easily. Try this during practice and see what happens.

The Late Greatest Player Giorgio Chinaglia

This past week, 65-year-old Giorgio Chinaglia passed away from a second heart attack at his home in Florida. He was known for playing for Italy and S.S. Lazio and has made an appearance in 1974 FIFA World Cup. Back in 1976, the greatest player signed a contract to play for the New York Cosmos of the North American Soccer League. In his entire stay for the team, he has established scoring 193 goals in 213 games.

The news of his death was announced and confirmed through a twitter message from Milan executive Umberto Gandini. Everyone was really shocked at the news. The place for the wake is now being prepared and cleaned up-from roof with gutter brush up to floors. There’s still no announcements for the date of the funeral but hopefully it will be open to the public so fans and friends can come by and visit the late Chinaglia.

Real Madrid Swept Aside Espanyol

Scoring 5-0 against Espanyol, Real Madrid got back to their game in last Sunday’s La Liga. Their victory restored their 10-point gap to Barcelona.

Cristiano Ronaldo opened the game, hitting his 30th personal goal for the season. Sami Khedira and Kaka also hit additional score on the next rounds. Before half-time, Espanyol’s defense got stronger as their goalkeeper, Kiko Casilla took 2 good saves. However, on their 78th minute the teamwork of Kaka and Gonzalo Higuaín left no chance for Casilla to save and made their first-touch strike. Real Madrid took their best shot and swept aside Espanyol. Philippine Azkals Left with a Draw vs Malaysian Tigers (1-1) Due to Late Goal

I had the opportunity to watch the friendly game between the Philippine Azkals and the Malaysian Tigers last night which ended in a draw (1-1) after a late goal from Malaysia.

Through most of the match between the progressing Azkals and the Suzuki Cup 2010 champions, at least after Denis Wolf scored through a header in the 34th minute, it seemed that the Azkals would win the game. But Ahmad Shakr Ali struck the ball towards the left bottom corner in the 91st minute and sent the game to a draw.

Phil Younghusband makes a free kick

There were missed chances from the Philippines side, especially in the first half where they had a lot of goal attempts, one of which was the curving ball from Angel Guirado that struck the right goal post. The Malaysian side showed persistence during the second half, keeping Neil Etheridge busy with their left wing man exploiting its side.

Second half begins

One goal attempt which was on target was foiled by a great save by the Azkals' first-choice goal keeper captured in the photo below by Goal.PH.

The match showed the Philippine Azkals' progress since its meeting with the Malaysian Tigers during the 2010 Suzuki Cup. The Philippine football team is set to leave the country for the AFC Challenge Cup in March.

Watching The Game With A Friend

A friend invited me to watch a soccer game at their home; because I was free that time plus the fact that one of the teams that will play is my favorite, I eagerly agreed. It was my first time to be in his house so I don’t know what I will discover there about him.

When we were at his pad, I was surprised to notice the neatly arranged sala set covered with contemporary fabric and in general, the place was clean as if it was not owned by a single man. Anyway, he turned on the TV because the game was about to start.

The Way You Play

In every game that an individual plays or the team play, the only goal is to end the game victoriously. Aside from the trophies and even cash received for winning the games, such as my favorite soccer game, nothing can beat the feeling of winning.

Although no one wins the game all the time, as sometimes one may end up as a loser, still it is said that “it’s not how you lost the game; it is how you play the game”. I guess, not all may agree but will it be a sweet victory if you dirtily play the game and end up winning? I guess not.

Popcorn and Juice? or Popcorn and Softdrinks?

As a soccer fanatic, I think it is a crime to miss a soccer game especially when the ones playing are my favorite teams! One time, I was in my room and the game will start in less than an hour on my favorite sport , so I prepared popcorn and juice. While sipping my juice, I accidentally stepped on one of my bedroom vanities and slipped! The juice was all over me and I`m a total mess!

I took a quick bath so as not to miss the game and thankfully, I didn`t miss out on anything. Man! I guess popcorn and juice doesn`t compliment each other. Now I know why they always sell popcorn with soft drinks and not with juice.

Sharing the Moment With Your Buddies

Soccer game is best watched with a companion or with your buddies sitting beside you. When you watch it alone, you can feel that something is missing. I mean, you can’t share the intense feeling when your favorite soccer player makes a score; no one is there with you during those exhilarating moments were all you need is somebody that will scream and yell with you in front of the tv!

But why allow this to happen when you can do audio conferencing, where you and your friends can talk to each other while watching the game even when you are at different places at the same time? If you haven’t tried this yet, then you better do and feel the difference.

Behind The Scenes

While my friends and I were waiting for our favorite soccer game to start, we were talking about business, how to start one on our own, the office equipment and supplies that we need; we even considered business equipment leasing. Of course, it was not all business because from time to time, we were also discussing about the soccer game that was about to start. Actually, we were talking about anything that we can think of during that time.

So, when the commercial break has finally ended, we were automatically silent that like a remote control, we were unanimously turned mute. I guess, we are really friends that we know what to do without being told.

Never Want To Miss The Game

I never want to miss my favorite soccer game, especially when my favorite team is playing. But of course, there are times when I can’t help but missed the game due to some important matters that I have to attend to. When this unavoidable occasion happens, I have no choice but to watch the game replay later when I’m free.

I just search for the replay of the game online and conveniently watch it in my room. When the game is so remarkable, I sometimes, download the replay, burn it in a CD or DVD disc and store the disc in my computer cabinet so that I can watch it again later whenever I want.

Don’t Want To Miss The Soccer Game?

I am a self confessed soccer addict. If I can’t watch my favorite game live n action, I will definitely find a replay of the game in a local TV channel. Unfortunately, there are times when I have to wait for about a week or so just to see a replay of the game or worst, there is no replay. When these happen, I automatically search the web because, definitely, I can watch the replay of the game in various websites about soccer.

There was this one time where I googled for the game replay and I landed on a site that offers free GNC coupons codes. Since it is not my priority, at the moment, I immediately left that site and continued with the search for the replay. Luckily (of course), I found a couple of them and so I enthusiastically watch the game.
