Portsmouth 0-5 Chelsea Premier League Match Highlights and Goals: 03/24/2010

Chelsea moved into second place in the Premier League and to within one point of leaders Manchester United with an emphatic win at bottom club Portsmouth.

After a low-key start, Didier Drogba rolled the ball into an empty net after David James kicked at thin air. Florent Malouda slammed in a second before following up Frank Lampard's saved shot to slot in a third. Drogba outmuscled Steve Finnan and fired in at the near post before Lampard headed in an injury-time fifth. It took them a while to hit their stride but when once they did, Chelsea imposed themselves on the game in a manner that has eluded them, to costly ends, in recent matches.

Goal photos to follow soon.

Catching Up with a Teammate

Last week when I went to Marikina Sports Park to jog I bumped into one of my teammates in our football club Marikina United FC. We had the opportunity to catch up. That would probably give you an idea about how long I haven’t been able to join them in practice.

Well, actually football practices have become less frequent. We used to hold practices twice a week but now it’s just once a week. Not that they have been busy with things like prescription acne medicationn, no. School has been a priority by many of the students in the team. I’m just glad we were able to catch up and am looking forward to another tournament.

Running for Different Reasons

Lately, more and more running events are being organized for a variety of reasons. There are runs organized for competition, for fun, for the environment and for helping a worthwhile cause.

These events are great and are a lot better than the best weight loss pills available. But for those who can’t run, then pills are an alternative. So when was the last time you joined a running event?

Update On David Beckham's Injury and Surgery

David Beckham has underwent surgery in Finland and is now in the process of rehabilitation. Beckham's leg is expected to be in a cast for three to four weeks and in a support for a similar length of time but he has already started to use crutches.

A statement from AC Milan said: "The rehabilitation plan has been established and will start immediately. For the first two weeks, the footballer must not put pressure on the injured limb and then he will do so progressively and partially for six weeks before doing specific therapy in the swimming pool. The plan foresees a complete recovery in six months, after which he will be able to play again."

This is good news and many fans are hopeful that he will make a comeback. The former England captain, who is in his second loan stint with AC Milan from his Major League Soccer club, was injured in the 87th minute of AC Milan's 1-0 win against AC Chievo. Beckham was unchallenged and felt not even a single joint pain before he suffered the problem and limped off before being carried away on a stretcher.

Manchester United 3-0 Fulham Premier League Match Highlights and Goals: 03/14/2010

Wayne Rooney scored twice as Manchester United beat Fulham to move two points clear at the top of the Premier League. Rooney, who saw a long-range strike saved in the opening 45 minutes, slotted home from 12 yards after just 30 seconds of the second half.

Mark Schwarzer denied Darren Fletcher but Rooney turned on like one of those KVM switches and sealed the points with a low strike across goal after superb approach work from Dimitar Berbatov. A teasing cross from Ji-Sung Park was then headed home by Berbatov.

David Beckham Injury Photos and Report: Torn Achilles Tendon

In the AC Milan 1-0 AC Chievo, David Beckham suffered a torn Achilles tendon in his left foot, photos of which can be seen below. The injury occurred when Beckham was by himself with the ball at his feet. He shifted his weight and immediately realized there was a problem, reaching his hand down to his left heel.

David Beckham then stood up and snapped his wrists like he was breaking a twig in half in a gesture to show the sideline that he knew his Achilles tendon was broken.

Visibly in pain and in tears, Beckham went to the sideline for medical attention, leaving Milan with 10 men because all three substitutes had already been used.

Consultant sports physician Dr Tom Crisp said, "It's remotely possible he may be running in three months. The chances of him being fit to play for England are non-existent." AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani said that the Englishman will be out for "probably five or six months".

Beckham was unchallenged when he suffered the injury and hobbled off in pain before being stretchered away.

AC Milan's club physician, Jean Pierre Meersseman said that Beckham will fly to Finland on Monday for surgery, where he will be treated by specialist surgeon Sakari Orava. "He'll go to Finland tomorrow and will be operated on probably tomorrow afternoon or Tuesday morning," Meersseman said. Credits to for the photos of David Beckham's injury (broken Achilles tendon).

Manchester United 4-0 AC Milan (Agg 7-2) Champions League Match Highlights and Goals: 03/10/2010

David Beckham's return to Old Trafford was brief and ended in the disappointment of comprehensive defeat as Manchester United swept past AC Milan into the Champions League quarter-finals. Beckham only made a 27-minute appearance as a substitute, and while he was deservedly given a rapturous reception on the ground where he was once idolized, he found himself overshadowed by Wayne Rooney's latest masterclass.

AC Milan's hopes of reaching the last eight were already extinguished by the time Beckham entered to a standing ovation with United leading 3-0 - and Rooney was the man responsible as he repeated his two-goal demolition of the Italians at the San Siro on home territory.

Rooney headed United in front from Gary Neville's cross early on and extended United's 3-2 advantage from the first leg even further seconds after half-time after good work by Nani. Ji-Sung Park drilled in the third on the hour as United exerted complete control. Darren Fletcher added the fourth with a diving header from Rafael's cross three minutes from time to put added gloss on a hugely satisfying evening for Sir Alex Ferguson as he bids to take United to the Champions League final for the third season in succession.

Pictures of the goal scorers are below.

1-0 Wayne Rooney 13"

2-0 Wayne Rooney 46"

3-0 Ji-Sung Park 59"

Wolverhampton 0-1 Manchester United Premier League Match highlights and Goals: 03/06/2010

Paul Scholes grabbed the winner to earn Manchester United a laboured win over strugglers Wolves and send his side back to the top of the Premier League. The 35-year-old ran onto Nani's pass in the box, turned past Christophe Berra, and slid home the winner on 73 minutes. Scholes's 100th Premier League goal spared the blushes of a United side clearly missing the cutting edge of the injured Wayne Rooney. Wolves battled well but wasted several chances to put the pressure on United.

Increasing My Blog's Traffic

As the football World Cup 2010 in South Africa nears, more and more people start to look for their team’s jerseys and accessories more than wedding accessories. Since this blog is about football, I may need to start broadening the topics I write about. I hope to increase the number of visits here in my blog and am willing to learn. Any suggestions?

Missing Exercise Moments

I have missed the times when I would run around the 400-m race track and use my Bluetooth headset as I go around it many times. Lately, I have not been keeping myself fit through jogging.

I do not want to give any excuses but the truth is I have been very busy that I just can’t fit it into my schedule. That’s why I was glad to have spent some time exercising last Friday.

Burnley equalised when David Nugent latched on to Leon Cort's header and looped the ball over Manuel Almunia. Theo Walcott curled in a sublime shot to ease the embarrassment of Nicklas Bendtner's awful finishing before Andrey Arshavin rifled in a third.

Watering Needs for Football field

It’s summer again and grass in the football field will become difficult to grow without enough water supply. El NiƱo is here in the country and there is a possibility that water supply would not be enough.

Good for those football fields near a body of water because they can utilize pond pumps to bring enough water to keep the grass growing.

Football and the Bar Coding System

Tickets in football games used to not have barcodes and so scalpers easily get fake ones and sell them to innocent buyers. But nowadays, because of technological advances and the invention of bar coding system and the barcode scanner, items in groceries and even football tickets as well are controlled and not easily faked. Let’s just hope that those who try to make fake tickets won’t become technological, too.

Relaxing After a Football Game

In a football game muscles can get very sore and all the dirt, mud and sweat of other layers and opponents can really get caught by a player. So, after a 90-minute football game a good time of relaxation would be a great idea.

Getting a warm shower and cleaning up with a phisoderm body wash can get the dirt off. But to get the stress and soreness off, a football player can try getting a Shiatsu or a Swedish whole body massage. This can help in relaxing not just the body but the mind as well.

Inter Milan 2-1 Chelsea Highlights and Goals: 02/24/2010

Chelsea suffered a first leg defeat to former boss Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan in their Champions League last 16 tie. Inter got off to the perfect start when Diego Milito cut inside and fired in with only three minutes gone. Chelsea rallied from the early blow and after Salomon Kalou was denied a strong first-half penalty claim he was on hand to fire Chelsea level after half-time. Parity was short-lived, with Esteban Cambiasso drilling in to give Inter a narrow lead to take to Stamford Bridge.

Pacquiao vs Clottey Live Stream: SOmething to Look Forward To

In less than two weeks, Manny Pacquiao will be facing Joshua Clottey for the welterweight championship. There will be no football for me first on that day. I would not want to miss that match because I want to see Pacquiao win vs Clottey.

As sure as life insurance payments no matter what life insurance rates you get them, I believe Pacman will bring Joshua Clottey down. I can’t wait to watch the Pacquiao vs Clottey live stream match.

Manchester United Wins Carling Cup Finals vs Aston Villa: 02/28/2010

Substitute Wayne Rooney made the decisive contribution in the Carling Cup final with a late winner as Manchester United beat Aston Villa at Wembley. Rooney entered the action just before half-time to replace the injured Michael Owen and enabled Sir Alex Ferguson's side to come from behind and retain the trophy.

Aston Villa's Wembley showpiece started perfectly when James Milner put them ahead from the spot after five minutes following Nemanja Vidic's foul on Gabriel Agbonlahor. Villa clearly felt referee Phil Dowd should have sent Vidic off after he hauled down Agbonlahor as he closed in on goal - and their burning sense of injustice was fuelled even further when United quickly restored equality.

Richard Dunne lost possession to Dimitar Berbatov, and when he attempted to repair his error he could only find Owen, who slipped a perfect finish past Villa keeper Brad Friedel.

1-0 James Milner 5" (penalty kick)

1-1 Michael Owen 12"

1-2 Wayne Rooney 74"
