Chelsea Win 0-1 vs Aston Villa as Hiddink's Reign Starts

Guus Hiddink's Chelsea reign started with a vital victory at Aston Villa that keeps their flickering Premier League title hopes alive. Nicolas Anelka sealed the points with a clever finish after 19 minutes as he was set up by Frank Lampard. John Terry saw a header saved by Brad Friedel and another cleared off the line by Stiliyan Petrov. Ashley Young hit the bar with a free-kick for Villa in the first half, but Chelsea survived to seal the win. It was a display of contrasts from Hiddink's new charges, with Chelsea outstanding in the first 45 minutes, but showing signs of vulnerability after the break when Martin O'Neill's side pressed. Hiddink, however, will only be interested the three points that take them above Villa into third place in the table.

About Third Division Terry Razon Copa Filipina Resumption

It has been months now and the Third Division of the Terry Razon Copa Filipina Tournament still has not resumed. Our football club has not heard any updates about when it will resume but we are still expecting its resumption. I’m sure many teams feel the same and probably can’t wait to bring out their wine of the month to celebrate victories. We just hope that the tournament will resume soon and games will be played again.

Manchester United Win 2-1 vs Blackburn, Leaves Others Behind by 8 Points

Manchester United landed eight points clear at the top of the Premier League after a hard-fought win against Blackburn. Wayne Rooney sent in a shot to put United ahead in the 23rd minute but a precise Roque Santa Cruz finish turned out to be an equalizer. Cristiano Ronaldo powered in a signature free-kick for the Red Devils, and Morten Gamst Pedersen was denied a penalty late on for the visitors. Match score is Manchester United 2-1 Blackburn.

Influence by Example

During our football trainings at our football club, I try not to stay on the Outer Banks but I do my best to get involved in the presented activities and training routines. This is important because it also helps motivate other team mates to take trainings more seriously. Rather than commanding others, I think it is more effective to influence others by example.

Manchester United Extend Lead WIth Win vs Fulham, 3-0

Premier League leaders Manchester United extended their lead to five points after playing brilliant football to defeat Fulham. Cottagers goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer was at fault for the opener as he saved Paul Scholes's superb 25-yard volley but allowed the ball to spin into the net. Great passing move from the Red Devils' side then allowed Dimitar Berbatov to tap in a second. Wayne Rooney came off the bench to sidefoot home at the far post and round off a one-sided victory.

Eduardo da Silva's Comeback Pictures

Eduardo has described his goalscoring return for Arsenal in the FA Cup on Monday as "the best day of my life". Eduardo, who had been out since breaking his leg in February 2008, scored twice in his side's 4-0 win over Cardiff in their fourth-round face-off.

"It was the best day of my life - it was a special moment to score, very emotional," said the Croatian gunner. "I celebrated by kissing my wedding ring - because my wife and daughter and family supported me through this."

Eduardo, who also played for Croatia last week, opened the scoring in the 20th minute with a header from Carlos Vela's cross and later added Arsenal's third goal from the penalty spot.

Below are pictures from bbc.co.uk of Eduardo da Silva's dream return.

Beckham Equals Moore's record of 108 England Caps

David Beckham equalled Bobby Moore's record of 108 England caps for an outfield player after coming on as a substitute in the 2-0 defeat in Spain. The 33-year-old midfielder, currently on loan at AC Milan, joins Moore behind goalkeeper Peter Shilton, England's record appearance holder with 125 caps. He replaced Middlesbrough's Stewart Downing at the start of the second half with England trailing 1-0 at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan in Seville. He showed glimpses of his quality with some trademark long passes, but his night was tempered when he was booked for dissent in the closing stages of the match.

This new turn in David Beckham's career is really becoming interesting and I just hope that followers won't be disappointed. Many are hopeful that the situation with LA Galaxy and AC Milan would be resolved as soon as possible, knowing that Beckham has shown interest in the latter.

Wales Defeated by Poland, 0-1

Wales showed great form ahead of March's crucial World Cup qualifiers despite losing to a slick Poland side in Wednesday's friendly in Portugal. Half-time substitute Roger Guerreiro brilliantly chipped Wales goalkeeper Boaz Myhill in the 80th minute to secure the win for the Poles.

Spain Brings England Back to Reality, Win 2-0

England's revival under Fabio Capello was given a reality check with a loss from Euro 2008 winners Spain in Seville. Gabriel Agbonlahor shot wide early on before the hosts went ahead when David Villa went past Phil Jagielka and John Terry to finish clinically. Fernando Llorente powered in a header late on to confirm Spain's dominance.
It was England's first defeat in nine games and the manner of the loss will give manager Capello a better idea of the task ahead.

David Beckham came on at half-time for his record-equalling 108th England cap and set up debutant Carlton Cole but his effort was cleared off the line.

Spa After a Tiring Game

For football and soccer players, I am pretty sure a visit at the spa after a week of training or after a very physical game sounds good, especially after a victory. A spa with a very relaxing ambiance, good lighting, some wall fountains and exotic scents all around. A whole body massage or a foot massage is enough to relieve the tense muscles and the distracted mind. When was the last time you visited a spa?

Giggs Experience Gives Manchester United 0-1 Win vs West Ham United

Manchester United moved back to the top of the Premier League as a Ryan Giggs goal saw them victorious over West Ham. WHU gave United a difficult test but their best chance was an ambitious Carlton Cole chip that was well saved by van der Sar. The visitors were not at their free-flowing best but Giggs cut in from the left and curled in a shot to provide the moment of magic needed for the victory. The hosts pushed for an equalizer but the Red Devils stood their ground to complete a 13th-straight clean sheet in the league. The result ended West Ham's run of six league games without a defeat and, despite their good play, they just could not find a way through United's defense.

The video clip and a picture (courtesy of bbc.co.uk) of the goal of Ryan Giggs can be viewed below.

David Beckham, On for the England Spain Friendly on Feb 11

David Beckham has been included in Fabio Capello's England squad for the friendly match against Spain on 11 February. Beckham has been impressive during his loan spell with AC Milan and will now be given the chance to equal Bobby Moore's record of 108 England appearances.

Beckham played for AC Milan in their 1-1 draw at home to Reggina in Italy's Serie A on Saturday, a result which leaves his team eight points behind arch-rivals Inter at the top of the league.

His attempts to equal Moore's outfield caps record have previously been frustrated - he was left out of the squad that beat Germany in Berlin in November - but Capello had hinted the 33-year-old was likely to win a recall.

Fabio Capello said, "He is a media star and for this reason all the fans spoke about him in this way before he arrived; like a star not a player. But now he has played three games, and every game has been better."

Looking for Amanda Beard Playboy Pictures?

I recently stumbled upon the most searched terms in Google and I ran into the terms 'amanda beard playboy pictures'. Well, this blog is not about Amanda Beard but about football. But will you be treated to pictures of Miss Beard? I am not sure, really. You can search the other posts (archives) to see if you can find her pictures here.

But, two things that I can guarantee is, first, football pictures can be found in this blog's front page. The second is, you can't find playboy pictures of Amanda Beard here because this is not a playboy pictures site. This is a site about football videos and pictures.

If Amanda Beard plays football, she'll eventually end up having her picture here in this blog, but if it's a picture from playboy, I don't think there is a chance I'll post it here. So I'm sorry if you can't find Amanda Beard's picture in this entry. Why don't you check out pictures of Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov or David Beckham.

Don't Get Too Busy for Valentine's Day

Hey, footballer! Did you know that Valentine’s Day is coming soon? Or were you too busy with training to notice? Well, if you haven’t noticed, it is only a few days away. So, have you thought about a gift for your partner yet?

If you are thinking about flowers, I suggest to not get the usual red roses. You can try pink roses or other flowers. Or you can even try other gifts aside from flowers. Let me suggest, a potted plant. How about perfume? Or a nice dinner somewhere?

Don’t be too busy to plan for Valentine’s Day. You won’t regret planning for it.

Liverpool Downs Chelsea, 2-0

Fernando Torres sent in two late goals at Anfield to sink Chelsea and ensure Liverpool kept up the pressure on Premier League leaders Manchester United. The game looked as if it was destined for the draw that would have suited only the Red Devils until Torres made his dramatic intervention to close the gap on United to two points, although Liverpool have played one game ahead.

Chelsea saw Frank Lampard sent off on the 60th minute for a foul on Xabi Alonso, a decision they contested bitterly as they claimed he took the ball first before making contact with the Liverpool midfield man.

But they can have no serious complaints about the result after Liverpool dominated throughout, taking the game to Chelsea in a game played out in freezing conditions.

Torres broke the deadlock a minute from time when he headed home a near-post cross from Fabio Aurelio, then set the seal on the win in stoppage time with a simple finish after substitute Yossi Benayoun stole the ball from Ashley Cole.

10-Man Stoke Defeats Manchester City, 1-0

Stoke had Rory Delap sent off but still defeated a disappointing Manchester City thanks to a James Beattie first-half header. Stoke were down to 10 men when Rory Delap was sent off for kicking out at Shaun Wright-Phillips. Beattie gave the home side the winning lead when he headed in a Matthew Etherington deep cross.

Going Back to Training

Last week, I was able to go back to football training once a week and felt better as I got more agile again after becoming a bit rusty. I had to fix our bathroom faucet and sink, before I was able to play, but I thought that maybe I should have bought Kohler sinks and faucets so I could have spent more time for running and practicing. But, the good thing is I’ve gone back to training and I feel good about it.

Edwin van der Sar Sets New League Record!

Manchester United keeper, Edwin van der Sar, recorded a 12th successive top-flight clean sheet and set a new league record of 1,104 minutes without conceding a goal, breaking Reading's Steve Death record set in 1979.

Manchester United Holds on to Lead, Win 1-0 vs Everton

Manchester United FC turned up the pressure on the Premier League's chasing pack with an win over Everton at Old Trafford. Cristiano Ronaldo's 44th-minute goal from the penalty - awarded after Mikel Arteta fouled Michael Carrick - put them five points ahead of Liverpool and Chelsea. The Red Devils deserved their victory and could have won by more, but they were made to work for the win by an Everton side displaying all their trademark defensive resilience.

Playing Soccer and War Games

I used to enjoy hiking and camping with my high school friends, whom I used to play football with. But with my friends in college, we enjoyed other activities and one of them was playing billiards and bowling. Lately, they have been encouraging me to invest on a Tippmann sniper so we can play war games. A Tippmann marker, they said, will surely be a great addition to their team. I do hope that when I have the money that I would be able to purchase some gears and weapons for our war games. And eventually, I would encourage them to play soccer with me, too.
